[postgis-commits] ELFSYSTEM issue

I have looked all over for information on this issue and come up empty.

I have installed postgis from source on a 64-bit system with elf. When I 
run lwpostgis.sql the first create function fails with:
could not load library ... liblwgeom.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32

I see that in the Makefile.config ELFSYSTEM=true
Is there someplace to help it see that it is a 64 bit elf system?
