2.5 Patch

So, I have a problem, not a technical one but a bureaucratic one. 
We (Crunchy) are still shopping Pg12 and PostGIS 2.5 to customers on RHEL. The new bug/backwards behaviour break that has busted our GML/KML support is affecting those versions too. In the ordinary course of affairs, I would apply my fix all the way back to 2.5 and release a 2.5.10, but the NEWS header says 

"PostGIS 2.5.9
2022/11/11
This release works for PostgreSQL 9.4 thru PostgreSQL 12 and is the End-Of-Life release
of the PostGIS 2.5 series.”

What should I do?
