You might do better to just use the regular PostgreSQL Debian packages
and my postgresql-postgis packages which can be found here:

http://colo.snowman.net/~sfrost/postgis/

They're working for me but I havn't had alot of time to test them.  You
may need the geos packages that are also there.  I'd love to get some
feedback on them.
