[postgis-users] DTED Data

I just got a new requirement for my app to be able to query DTED from a
geodetic point.  I don't know crap about DTED other than how to spell it
(did I spell it right?)  Are there any good web sites were I can go to
study up?  I'm interested in file formats, RDBMS implementations, and
general query methods (DBMS based or otherwise.)  I much more interested in
theory than products.
