[postgis-users] Gentoo/Debian Packages using 1.1.0CVS?

Hi,
as David said, we use the cvs version because of it doesn't need to
have postgresql sources code. Indeed if we use the lastest 1.0.X
version then we need postgresql sources, so the postgis independent
ebuild is not necessary. Indeed as you could see here : http://
bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=38062 this idea has allready been
done by somes. Our choice it's so to use our own cvs tar ball (which
is available on postgis.fr and updated every hours), the new
postgis-1.0.1_p20050914.ebuild is available here : http://
www.postgis.fr/gentoo/dev-db/postgis/postgis-1.0.4_p20050914.ebuild
and we've made tests to check if the version we've downloaded
correspond to the lastest 1.0.4 release. As sandro said there could
be some trouble for those user which use this ebuilds, but gentoo
manages packages in a such way that we can't use an ebuild called
1.1.0CVS-20050915, since it doesn't respect gentoo ebuild
specifications. Furthermore if we have a postgi-1.1.0_p20050915 then
when the (so awaiting/lovely) 1.1.0 version will be out, we can't
emerge the postgis-1.1.0.ebuild since the postgis-1.1.0-
p20050915.ebuild will be removed, that's why we use this version
syntaxe (in fact at the begining we use another ebuild called postgis-
cvs, but after speacking with somem gentoo's devs we decide to
respect the gentoo standard ebuild specification and to put the
postgis-cvs ebuild into postgis-1.0.X_pdate which mean that is the
patch branch of the 1.0.X version).

Hope I correctly answer your queries ....

Cordially.
